Bugle Bead Madness

I inherited about 6 pounds of Toho glass bugle beads from a student of mine who miscalculated his quantity in a Fire Mountain Gems group buy. I've been working on different patterns using them, and even I'm surprised at how versatile they can be. The third amber and bead project....

This is the third and last project that I completed with the tube of seed beads and string of amber chips (I have also made the bracelet and the earrings with those beads also.) That was a lot of beading projects from one tube and one small string of chips!

In a previous post, I showed one project made so far from a tube of seed beads and a string of small amber chips. This is the third project made from the tube. The tube has finally run dry, having only about 25 beads left in it, and only about 8 chips remain.

Using Pre-Made Components

For a fast beading project, combine your beadwork with pre-made components such as these metal rings. This tube of Toho treasure beads and the metal rings with inspirational words are destined to become a bracelet..... the details on constructions are soon to follow!

What One Tube of Beads can Do....

Whenever I have to travel to a meeting in Sacramento, I visit the U-Bead It bead shop. They are a huge shop with everything a beader could want, great inspiration with their displays, and the most organized and largest seed bead section I've ever seen. And, oddly enough, the tubes of beads I get there are downright magical, they seem to never end. For example, with one tube of amber-colored glass seed beads I got there, plus one string of small genuine amber chips, I have made a brick stitch and amber bracelet, a pair of brick stitch and amber earrings, and an amber-embellished spiral rope for a silver and amber pendant. (And, in case you hadn't guessed, I do like amber!)

'Oh', It's Rubber !

I made this chain maille collar with rubber 'oh' rings (that's what they're called at Fire Mountain Gems). The collar is embellished with turquoise colored glass seed beads, size 6. With the color of the rubber rings being a brick red/brown, I've had people ask me if the collar is leather. This collar is so light, you can forget you are wearing it!

What are e-Patterns? 'Electronic Patterns' that can be emailed quickly and easily. The beauty of this is that you don't have to pay for shipping, you can get a pattern without having to buy a whole book or magazine, and you can receive them quickly. I have e-Patterns on eBay, Etsy, and other sites; an example is the Flip-Flopping Hearts bead bracelet shown above. This pattern comes with a bead graph, word chart, and bead counts to let you easily customize the creation for your own (maybe making each heart a different color, etc.). Beaded Christmas Ornaments

Usually I don't think about projects that are only 'good' for part of the year (such as Christmas ornaments) -- after all, I figure if you put that much work into a project, you want to sanely display it all year long. But since I will be holding a Beaded Ornament class soon, I have become quite hooked on creating these beaded beauties, and trying to figure out new ways with different bead stitches to get them done. This photo shows just a basic "banner" style, but I've got some modern 'brick stitch', traditional netted, and square stitched types almost finished also...

The mermaid's tale is finished....

The little mermaid is now completed. Her tail is completely beaded, her fiber embellishment has been added, and a beaded Grecian up-do has been styled for hair. She's now ready to bask peacefully on a stone....
