Guitar String Bracelet Tutorial

The Guitar String Bracelet came about because I was so delighted when my son decided to start playing the guitar. I just had to take his discarded first set of strings and make them into a bracelet, and I added a bell to keep the music going. This tutorial features step by step instructions and photos. House Jewelry

I just love rocks of all types. I've hunted them down, polished them, and wire-wrapped them endlessly. But, since I only have ten fingers, two wrists and one neck to wear them on, I also make them into house 'jewelry'. The piece in the photo is six inches long, and hangs from a wall vase in my entryway.

Golden Hoop Earrings

I saw a pattern for a pair of beaded hoop earrings in the Winter 2008 issues of Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazine, and wanted to make them immediately. The earrings in the magazine were done in silver, with silver ball beads. But making something immediately, for me, means not waiting to get the exact supplies listed in the pattern, so improvisation is always part of the challenge. I had gold filled square and round wire, 4mm Swarovski crystals, and 4mm gold beads with a twisted design. Good enough! And since topaz is the birthstone for November, those sparkly crystals would work just fine for a special pair of earrings for me! Here is how they came out. Note: when it came to the part about bending the earrings around a mandrel to curve them, I had worries about the crystals maybe cracking off the wire, but going carefully made it possible.

Shooting Star Bracelet

"Shooting Star Bracelet" This copper wire wrapped bracelet has 5mm turquoise beads, and glass bead accents. One of my students made one in sterling silver wire, with Swarovski crystals, and it was VERY stunning! The bracelet is comfortable to wear, though in this photo the wire isn't 'tweaked' to the wearer yet.

A smaller project in the meantime....

My mermaid and I have been separated since she is in the vehicle that is in the repair shop this past week. I have worked on some smaller projects meanwhile, such as creating some simple projects for my upcoming Wire Jewelry class. This copper wire ring is wraparound and adjustable.
